At SDNYC we say “Gay”. Loud and Proud! Our team is made up of a variety of queer folk and we couldn’t be prouder. For our annual Guide to Pride we bring you a list of the gayest happenings in NYC. Plus check out the latest gay gear from our favorite vendors to get your 2022 Pride outfit together.
🌈 We wish all of our queer sinners and allies a happy and safe Pride Month!

Gay in NYC
Last year we attended the NYC Pride March, Festival and Pride Island party, and had the time of our lives. The amount of attendees was evidence that New Yorkers were cooped up a bit too long. There were so many beautiful people wrapped in rainbows, our photographer Richard could barely put his camera down. After a hiatus due to the pandemic, the 2021 comeback was a huge success.
Here are our top picks of NYC Pride events for 2022:
All Month:
- Polar Rainbow at Times Square
Latvian-British artist Kristaps Ancāns’s Polar Rainbow brings a virtual rainbow to the sky above Times Square for the entire month of June, visible through your phone. The augmented reality sculpture creates a virtual double rainbow stretching between the two poles along the 74W meridian line — which happens to cut through Times Square along 7th Ave. Get the Polar Rainbow App at the Apple Store for iPhone and iPad or Google Play for Android.
Thursday, 6/9:
- Drag and Draw with Yas Mama
In honor of Brooklyn Pride, the June installment of Brooklyn Museums’ backyard Drink and Draw features live models from Yas Mama, Brooklyn’s favorite Latinx drag party. While you draw, enjoy music and performances by some of NYC’s best drag queens. Hosted by Horrorchata, mother of the House of Bushwig. Tickets include after-hours admission to Andy Warhol: Revelation, a Brooklyn Museum tote, and a complimentary drink.
Saturday 6/11:
- Brooklyn Pride Week’s Twilight Parade
The city’s “only twilight parade.” From 7:30pm to 10:00pm on 5th Avenue from Lincoln Place to 9th Street.

Friday, 6/17:
- Pride Night at CITI FIELD
Join the New York Mets and Amtrak & Cool Cat for Pride Night at Citi Field. Enjoy festive pre-game programming on Mets Plaza before heading inside to watch the New York Mets take on the Miami Marlins at 7:10pm. Purchase tickets online and receive a Limited Edition Mets Pride Night hat.
Thursday, 6/23:
- NYC Pride Kick Off: Rooftop Pool Party feat. Noa Kirel + Rupaul’s Drag Race’s Jorgeous
Hang with petite Latina queen Jorgeous at the 2nd Annual Pride Rooftop Pool Extravaganza atop the Williamsburg Hotel. Hosted by Deryck Todd with special guest hosts Amanda Lepore, Evan Ross Katz, The Queer Indigo and more. A portion of the proceeds benefit the FOLX HRT Care Fund in collaboration with the National Black Trans Advocacy Coalition (BTAC).
Friday, 6/24:
- New York Heritage of Pride presents FRISKY- WONDERFUL WORLD
Featuring DJ Filipe Guerra and DJ Rafael Barreto. Plus an exciting exclusive Performance by Grag Queen, winner of Queen of the Universe.

Saturday, 6/25:

A full takeover of the world-renowned Avant Gardner and Brooklyn Mirage. The event spans 3 stages with performers, music, art and immersive experiences. Proudly benefiting NYC Pride and FEMME House.
