Sin Dee NYC’s Guide to Pride 2022

At SDNYC we say “Gay”. Loud and Proud! Our team is made up of a variety of queer folk and we couldn’t be prouder. For our annual Guide to Pride we bring you a list of the gayest happenings in NYC. Plus check out the latest gay gear from our favorite vendors to get your 2022 Pride outfit together.
🌈 We wish all of our queer sinners and allies a happy and safe Pride Month!

Gay in NYC

Last year we attended the NYC Pride March, Festival and Pride Island party, and had the time of our lives. The amount of attendees was evidence that New Yorkers were cooped up a bit too long. There were so many beautiful people wrapped in rainbows, our photographer Richard could barely put his camera down. After a hiatus due to the pandemic, the 2021 comeback was a huge success.

Here are our top picks of NYC Pride events for 2022:

All Month:

  • Polar Rainbow at Times Square
Latvian-British artist Kristaps Ancāns’s Polar Rainbow brings a virtual rainbow to the sky above Times Square for the entire month of June, visible through your phone. The augmented reality sculpture creates a virtual double rainbow stretching between the two poles along the 74W meridian line — which happens to cut through Times Square along 7th Ave. Get the Polar Rainbow App at the Apple Store for iPhone and iPad or Google Play for Android.

  • Rainbows on the Hudson
The Seaport Museum, the LBTQ+ sailing club, Knickerbocker Sailing Association‘s “Rainbows on the Hudson” boat parade will sail by Pier 16. The fleet of 30 vessels features sails designed by Gilbert Baker who created the first Pride flag and was a member of KSA.
  • Pride Planet
A full takeover of the world-renowned Avant Gardner and Brooklyn Mirage. The event spans 3 stages with performers, music, art and immersive experiences. Proudly benefiting NYC Pride and FEMME House.

Aside from a large selection of rainbow vintage-style clothing, we’re digging the accessories section at Unique Vintage. How adorbz are these Pastel Rainbow Ombre Candy Heart Sunglasses?

We found this Mod Cloth original hidden in their Rainbow Collection this year. It’s the perfect accessory for running around the NYC Pride March. The Rainbow Rad Stripe Fanny Pack is currently on sale for only $19.99!

ModCloth celebrates Pride month in partnership with the Trans Wellness Center. The Trans Wellness Center’s work is centered around offering medical, social, employment, and legal services to the transgender and non-binary community within a one-of-a-kind operation joined by six local organizations. Donating over $100,000 worth of clothing across all sizes to the Trans Wellness Center, ModCloth believes that behind every outfit lives a story of strength. Channeling the joy of discovering our most authentic self, we are shining a light on a community who gets dressed to inspire and empower.”
